Boys Brigade Groups

anchorbbAnchor Boys is the start of fun and friendships, the start of learning to play together. We aim to encourage the boys to have fun and develop friendships which may well last through to their teens and beyond. We provide a safe and relaxed environment to allow them to grow as individuals and learn to work together. There is also the opportunity to develop an awareness of the Christian faith.

BB is structured around an award system and the first award – The Anchor Badge – is presented when the boys move onto Juniors. The boys are always proud to receive this award.

juniorbbIn Juniors we seek to build on the work of Anchor Boys. As the boys get older we offer them more challenges and many opportunities to work and play in groups, so learning skills in teamwork and cooperation. Activities provide for new adventures, playing sports, and taking part in a variety of competitions which suit the differing interests and abilities of individual boys.

All activities are planned to provide fun as well as the chance for boys to continue to develop as individuals in various skills and in their relationships with their peers and adults. Some activities continue to build on their awareness of the Christian faith. Through their time in Juniors we see the boys grow in confidence as they accomplish new tasks and receive awards each year culminating in the Gold Award received as they move onto Company Section.

fusionbbBoys in Company Section spend more time on Achievements working towards their Presidents Badge and Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award. There are a whole variety of new skills they can learn, developing their own particular hobbies and interests as well as improving their sporting skills and preparing for Duke of Edinburgh Expeditions later on. The boys’ understanding of the Christian faith is built upon the knowledge already gained in previous Sections. Friendships started earlier are deepened  and developed across a wider age range. Boys continue to grow in confidence as they develop leadership skills and discover more about themselves in a fun safe environment in a world often confusing to teenagers.
