Fun for Toddlers

Little Ark provides an early opportunity for children aged 2-4 years to play and learn in a safe and happy environment without their parents.

We aim to provide a stimulating environment in which children are offered a full range of activities.  The first part of the session is free play where the children choose from activities including role play, construction toys, puzzles, books, sand/water play and craft activities.  After a break for a drink of milk or water and a fruit snack, there is singing and rhyme time followed by physical play in the hall with bikes, large play equipment such as the climbing frame, or small apparatus such as balls and hoops.  The session closes with story time in small groups.

Activities are planned with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) requirements in mind and planning is available for parents to see.  Learning journals are kept for each child where achievements and significant events are recorded.  Parents are welcome to see their child’s journal at any time.  We are members of the Pre-school Learning Alliance.

The playgroup leader has a level 3 qualification (NNEB) and is assisted by a dedicated team of volunteers.  We maintain a ratio of 1 adult to 4 children.
