I love Green not every shade of green, not fluorescent green that would be madness, but I love green.
I have green clothes, two rooms in my house are decorated in green, I have green ornaments and when shopping I am attracted to green things. I now I am not alone in loving green so why? –it is known to have a calming effect on us.
That’s why in show business there is a green room to calm and relax performers before they go on stage. I once worked in an office where each room was a different shade of green because it was deemed good for working environments. Do we love it because it reminds us of nature and new growth and freshness.
I like plants and am currently sowing seeds, it gladdens my heart to see the first shoots pushing through the soil and I am always amazed that a small seed can produce so much from what is perceivably so little.
Psalm 23 probably the best known of the psalms says The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul.
My garden or any other garden, restores my soul. And I think this is the key, greenery in all its forms restores my soul. Weeding or planting, visiting stately home gardens, or even the garden centre and marveling at the miracle of new life and growth in the plant world restores my soul.
I praise God for the garden I have that helps me continue to cultivate plants, watch the new growth. I look forward to venturing out to see more green
So look out of your window or get out on your daily walk and count the shades of green, grow your own seeds and tend them. But above all do something that restores your soul.
