Sutton Pastors

A Christian Presence in the Nightlife of Sutton Coldfield

Sutton Pastors is a late night initiative involving volunteers from the town churches  working in  partnership with the West Midlands Police Force and the nightlife businesses to ensure that Sutton Coldfield town centre is a safe and vibrant environment for everyone who visits.

We aim to provide an essential pastoral bridge between the police, business owners, door staff and the general public.

Sutton Pastors serves clubbers, diners, homeless people and anyone else we encounter on the street – in whatever ways are appropriate. For example, we give out sweets and bottles of water, offer flip-flops to those who cannot cope with their heels, look out for the vulnerable and clear glass bottles that could be used as weapons.  We listen to those who want to chat and it is amazing how quickly a warm relationship develops.  Being volunteers from the churches seems to be the ‘door opener’.

If you can spare about one Saturday monthly, 10.00pm to 12.30am on Sunday, have been a member of your church for over a year and are interested in joining our team, please send an email to suttonpastors@gmail.com  or text/phone Frank Cole on 07964090954.  We will send you more information, invite you to come out with us on a taster evening and then link you to our online application form.

Sutton Pastors can be followed on Twitter (@suttonpastors) and Facebook.
